in some romantic anime series that I've watched, there's this line "the moon looks pretty" in every interaction between characters that have both in love with each other/one-sided romantic feelings of one male/female character towards another, like some lowkey love confession. Like seriously, how do they relate moon to love, like wuuut??

In Japanese the word for moon and like is similar I think that has something to do with this
